FAQ
How is cost per mile calculated?
Fuel per mile is the diesel price divided by your miles per gallon. Monthly fixed costs are divided by the miles you run in a month. Maintenance, tires and driver pay are already per mile. Your cost per mile is the three added together.
How is the target rate worked out?
Break-even covers your costs and nothing more. The target rate adds your margin as a share of what you charge: cost ÷ (1 − margin). A 15% margin on a $2.00 cost is about $2.35 a mile, not $2.30.
Which diesel price is filled in?
The latest U.S. average diesel price published each week by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, with its date beside it. Change it to what you actually pay after card discounts.
What does the “If diesel moves” table show?
Your cost per mile, monthly fuel bill and target rate with diesel from $1.00 below to $1.00 above the price you entered.
Where do taxes, tolls and factoring go?
Add monthly ones to “other fixed costs” and per-mile ones to your per-mile costs. The pump price already includes fuel taxes.
Are my numbers stored anywhere?
Only in your browser, and only if you leave “remember my inputs” checked. They fill in the load profit and MPG tools on this device for 30 days and are never sent to Hedjee.
